Aeta scholars compose song, poem for Delta
PORAC — Scholars from Villa Maria Integrated School here composed and dedicated a song and poem for Vice Gov. Dennis ‘Delta’Pineda for his extensive support to the education of the Aeta youth.
They also handed over a handmade necklace to Vice Gov. Pineda made of bengala and bangcal, as well as to Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab
who represented Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’Pineda, and Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon.
Edwina Dela Cruz, who personally wore the necklace on the Vice Governor, thanked him for assuring that every Aeta receives quality education with the continuous programs implemented by the Provincial Government.
Vanessa Camaya, also an Aeta student from this school, shared that she experienced discrimination, but felt acceptance from officials and Kapampangans when her family transferred here in the province and received help from the Provincial Government.
The Aeta scholars belong to the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP) beneficiaries, facilitated by the Provincial School Library led by Bessie Makabali.
Some 890 students here in this town received P2,500 each for the scholarships.
Vice Governor Pineda took this trust and gratitude as an inspiration to strive harder as a public servant.
In the poem titled ‘Pasasalamat,’Aeta scholars called the Vice Gov “Kuya.”
According to them, they felt the sense of belongingness and family with the Pineda administration.
Also assisting Vice Gov. Pineda in the scholarship distribution were Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, Porac Vice Mayor Dexter David and Sangguniang Bayan members. — Leah Isidro De Fiesta
