C ITY OF SAN FERNANDO---The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) San Fernando led the launch of the fire prevention month observance of this capital city during Monday’s flag raising ceremony at city hall.

According to City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Roderick Marquez, the month of March was declared to as “Fire Prevention Month” since it always records an increasing number of fire incidents nationwide.

“Our program is whole year round. We just double them during March as it is fire prevention month where fire incidents increase,” said Marquez.

Prior to the official launch, the BFP held last week at city hall drawing, poster-making, and essay writing contests for Fernandino pupils and students, with topics involving fire safety consciousness.

While, during the launch, some members of the agency demonstrated fire safety actions for kitchen fires, which, as the BFP stated, is one of the most prevalent types of fire incidents in San Fernando.

The agency also distributed free fire extinguishers to select employees and safety tips brochures with contents on safety measures such as putting a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, and emergency exit plan in their homes and on being vigilant on activities involving fire.

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, for his part, urged Fernandinos to be part of the BFP’s campaign towards fire prevention.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the BFP for letting us be part of this campaign. We Fernandinos must join the campaign as fire destroys a loy of properties and lives,” said Santiago.

For other fire safety measures, you can call the BFP San Fernando at 9612313 or visit their office beside the city hall.
