Fernandinas to lead action toward clean household water
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The City of San Fernando Water District (CSFWD) and PrimeWater San Fernando have expressed support to the city government’s actions in women empowerment, as they tapped Fernandinas to lead in their recent pr oject .
Pushing for adequate and good quality water, the water district and PrimeWater awarded hand water pumps to some Fernandina women’s groups.
The said equipment will be utilized by several households in this capital city.
The ceremonial turnover of the equipment was held over the weekend at the CSFWD compound, in celebration of its 42nd anniversary and Women’s Month.
CSFWD Chairman Engr. Ferdinand Caylao said that women play a big role in protecting their family members’health through adequate water consumpt i on.
“Yung mga women’s groups yung nai-tap natin kasi alam nila yung lebel ng pangangailangan ng bawat pamilya sa malinis na tubig, na magagamit nila sa pang araw-araw
(We tapped women’s groups because they know the level of requirement for clean water families need every day),” said Caylao.
Caylao added that aside from the awarding of pumps, the installation, maintenance, and information dissemination to the family-beneficiaries about clean water will be performed by the water district, together with their partners.
Present during the ceremonial turnover of the pumps were Produktibong Kababaihan ng Barangay Magliman, Aktibong Kababaihan ng Barangay Dela Paz Norte, Northville San Fernando Women’s Organization, Kapit-bisig ng mga Kababaihan ng Barangay Calulut, and Samahan ng mga Kababaihan ng Barangay Bulaon.
Amy Catacutan, city’s Gender and Development focal person, expressed her gratitude to the benefactors, on behalf of the women’s groups, for the pr oject .
“Malaking tulong yung proyekto na ito dahil ang mga kababaihan usually ang ang nag-e-ensure sa safety ng kanilang pamilya, lalo na sa paggamit ng tubig. Kaya nagpapasalamat tayo sa water district at PrimeWater para dito (This project is a big help to women who ensure the safety of their families, especially the use of water that’s why we thank the water district and PrimeWater),” Catacutan said.
Meanwhile, Caylao also mentioned that within the next few months, more water pumps will be installed in the barangays as they target to cover all 35 villages in the city.
Aside from the ceremonial turnover, the CSFWD also unveiled their newly-painted concrete water tank and presented their Strategy Road Map for the next nine years.— CSF-CIO
