Tandem riders killed in shootout
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - In line with the continuous goal to neutralize motorcycle riding-in-tandem suspects, four personalities were killed by police authorities after engaging in a shootout in Sta. Rita town on Tuesday night.
The unidentified suspects were onboard two single motorcycles when they were flagged down by personnel of Sta. Rita police while conducting checkpoint operations along the roads of Barangay San Basilio and boundary of Barangay San Basilio- Barangay Dila Dila.
The said suspects allegedly ignored authorities and instead fled away from the area.
Immediately, checkpoint personnel of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) chased the suspects while coordinating with personnel of the Sta. Rita Municipal Police Station for a dragnet oper at i on.
Thereafter, Sta. Rita policemen manning the checkpoint saw the approaching motorcycles with the said suspects on board and flagged them down but instead of stopping, the suspects evaded the checkpoint.
Joint teams conducted hot pursuit operations leading to a brief exchange of fire resulting to the wounding of the suspects who were rushed to the Diosdado Macapagal Hospital in Guagua town for medical treatment but were pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Recovered from the suspects’possession were one .38 caliber revolver and three .45 caliber pistols while further verification is being made by police authorities for the possible identification of the slain suspects.
Police Regional Office III Director Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel, meanwhile, lauded the successful neutralization of the motorcycle riding-intandem suspects by the joint forces of Sta. Rita police and 1st Pampanga PMFC.
“As we continue to intensify our aggressive antiillegal drugs campaign, we also keep on maximizing our anti-criminality efforts especially on motorcycle riding suspects to put a stop if not prevent nefarious activities of these lawless elements,” he sai d .
