Tan­dem rid­ers killed in shootout

CITY OF SAN FER­NANDO - In line with the con­tin­u­ous goal to neu­tral­ize mo­tor­cy­cle rid­ing-in-tan­dem sus­pects, four per­son­al­i­ties were killed by po­lice au­thor­i­ties af­ter en­gag­ing in a shootout in Sta. Rita town on Tues­day night.

The uniden­ti­fied sus­pects were on­board two sin­gle mo­tor­cy­cles when they were flagged down by per­son­nel of Sta. Rita po­lice while con­duct­ing check­point op­er­a­tions along the roads of Barangay San Basilio and bound­ary of Barangay San Basilio- Barangay Dila Dila.

The said sus­pects al­legedly ig­nored au­thor­i­ties and in­stead fled away from the area.

Im­me­di­ately, check­point per­son­nel of the 1st Provin­cial Mo­bile Force Com­pany (PMFC) chased the sus­pects while co­or­di­nat­ing with per­son­nel of the Sta. Rita Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion for a drag­net oper at i on.

There­after, Sta. Rita po­lice­men man­ning the check­point saw the ap­proach­ing mo­tor­cy­cles with the said sus­pects on board and flagged them down but in­stead of stop­ping, the sus­pects evaded the check­point.

Joint teams con­ducted hot pur­suit op­er­a­tions lead­ing to a brief ex­change of fire re­sult­ing to the wound­ing of the sus­pects who were rushed to the Dios­dado Ma­ca­pa­gal Hos­pi­tal in Guagua town for med­i­cal treat­ment but were pro­nounced dead on ar­rival by the at­tend­ing physi­cian.

Re­cov­ered from the sus­pects’pos­ses­sion were one .38 cal­iber re­volver and three .45 cal­iber pis­tols while fur­ther ver­i­fi­ca­tion is be­ing made by po­lice au­thor­i­ties for the pos­si­ble iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of the slain sus­pects.

Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice III Direc­tor Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Joel Coronel, mean­while, lauded the suc­cess­ful neu­tral­iza­tion of the mo­tor­cy­cle rid­ing-in­tan­dem sus­pects by the joint forces of Sta. Rita po­lice and 1st Pam­panga PMFC.

“As we con­tinue to in­ten­sify our ag­gres­sive an­ti­il­le­gal drugs cam­paign, we also keep on max­i­miz­ing our anti-crim­i­nal­ity ef­forts es­pe­cially on mo­tor­cy­cle rid­ing sus­pects to put a stop if not pre­vent ne­far­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties of these law­less el­e­ments,” he sai d .
