Fer­nan­d­i­nas un­dergo train­ing on ma­te­rial upcycling

CITY OF SAN FER­NANDO— In line with the cel­e­bra­tion of Women’s Month, some 30 mem­bers of the Fer­nan­d­ina Women’s Fed­er­a­tion un­der­went “Upcycling Train­ing on Ac­ces­sories Mak­ing” re­cently at He­roes Hall.

Ini­ti­ated by the Depart­ment of Trade and In­dus­try-Negosyo Cen­ter San Fer­nando, to­gether with the City In­vest­ment Pro­mo­tion Of­fice, the ac­tiv­ity was aimed to in­tro­duce a new skills to women— the upcycling of scrap and waste ma­te­ri­als in or­der to cre­ate new use­ful items.

Through the coach­ing of an­other Fer­nan­d­ina, Er­minda Cas­tro, who pre­vi­ously worked for the Depart­ment of En­vi­ron­ment and Nat­u­ral Re­sources, the par­tic­i­pants were able to cre­ate bags made of plas­tic straws and lamp­shades made of poly­eth­yl­ene tereph­tha­late or PET bot­tles.— CSF-CIO
