An­ge­les City ob­serves Fire Preven­tion Month

AN­GE­LES CITY – The city gov­ern­ment here headed by Mayor Edgardo Pam­intuan and the Bureau of Fire Pro­tec­tion- An­ge­les City (BFP-An­ge­les) have slated ac­tiv­i­ties in line with the ob­ser­vance of the na­tion­wide Fire Preven­tion Month.

With the theme “Lig­tas na Pilip­inas at­ing Kamtin, Bawat Pam­ilya ay Sanayin, Kaala­man sa Sunog Ay Palawakin,” var­i­ous events and in­for­ma­tion cam­paigns are tar­geted to widen the knowl­edge of house­holds and even busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments on fire safety.

This year, BFP- An­ge­les started im­ple­ment­ing the “Oplan Lig­tas na Pa­mayanan.” Ac­cord­ing to An­ge­les City Fire Mar­shall Sonny Cario, BFP will have four ap­proaches in im­ple­ment­ing this cam­paign in pro­mot­ing fire safety. These ap­proaches in­clude: Han­dang Pa­mayanan Pro­gram, Bayani­han, Kaa­ga­pay and Lin­gap Pro­gram.

BFP also con­ducts house to house vis­its on com­mu­ni­ties in­side An­ge­les City to as­sess house­holds for pos­si­ble fire haz­ards. BFP is also com­ing up with a com­mu­nity fire ac­tion plan and fire aux­il­iary group to in­ten­sify the agency’s op­er­a­tion.

Cario also added that BFP will also im­ple­ment stern sur­veil­lance of high risk barangays

par­tic­u­larly those which are highly-pop­u­lated and con­gest ed.

The Fire Preven­tion Month com­menced last March 1 through a re­gional kick-off cer­e­mony in Bataan.

BFP also held a Fire Expo last Satur­day at SM City Pam­panga, which serves as a work­shop for chil­dren on how they can pre­vent fires and per­form first aid.

The ob­ser­vance of the Fire Preven­tion Month will be capped through a Fire Preven­tion Color Run slated on March 30, 2019 in Clark Global City.— AC-CIO with re­ports from HAU In­tern Zyrell Ramos
