This strand means to give stu­dents work pre­pared abil­i­ties that can help them in find­ing jobs. It fo­cuses on en­hanc­ing skills in build­ing liveli­hood projects that can be done at home.

If the stu­dents have a plan in con­tin­u­ing in col­lege af­ter this strand, they can take up de­grees in Hos­pi­tal­ity and Tourism Man­age­ment, Culi­nary Arts, Nu­tri­tion, or In­te­rior De­sign.

This Home Eco­nom­ics strand ca­reer not only pre­pared women for moth­er­hood and home mak­ing but also for a broad spec­trum of ca­reers in pub­lic and pri­vate ed­u­ca­tion busi­ness, di­etet­ics, so­cial sci­ence, jour­nal­ism and in­sti­tu­tional man­age­ment.

This Home Eco­nom­ics Strand Com­po­nent is to equip the stu­dents with the ba­sic knowl­edge, skills, proper at­ti­tude and val­ues to­wards work. It is in­tended pro­vide class­room and lab­o­ra­tory ex­pe­ri­ence that will en­able the stu­dents to gain un­der­stand­ing and ac­quire com­pe­ten­cies in var­i­ous eco­nomic ac­tiv­i­ties as they re­late to the home eco­nom­ics cur­ricu­lum map.
