Sec­ond sus­pect in Si­lawan slay falls

THE chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Po­lice Of­fice (LCPO), Po­lice Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Limuel Obon, con­firmed that a sec­ond sus­pect in the mur­der of Chris­tine Lee Si­lawan was ar­rested on Tues­day morn­ing, April 9.

The po­lice are with­hold­ing the iden­tity of the sus­pect and the cir­cum­stances of the ar­rest.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­li­able source who re­quested anonymity, the sus­pect is of le­gal age and was found near the area where Si­lawan’s body was dumped in Si­tio Ma­haya­hay in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.

The sus­pect re­port­edly con­fessed what he knows about the killing of the 16-yearold.

Re­porters waited for a chance to in­ter­view the po­lice of­fi­cials who are privy to the ar­rest af­ter their closed-door meet­ing at the LCPO head­quar­ters late Tues­day af­ter­noon, but Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice-Cen­tral Visayas Chief De­bold Si­nas said “no me­dia in­ter­view.”

Mean­while, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said they are ready to of­fer liveli­hood as­sis­tance to Si­lawan’s mother, Lour­des Pardillo.

Radaza said she wants Pardillo to have a sta­ble in­come to help ease her mis­ery af­ter los­ing her daugh­ter.

The City will as­sess what kind of liveli­hood it can give Pardillo.

Radaza said she has not heard from the griev­ing mother but she learned that the small store in front of their house is al­ready be­ing re­paired so Pardillo can go back to sell­ing goods.

With the help of good Sa­mar­i­tans, Pardillo also re­port­edly had the sec­ond floor of their house fixed so they can rent it out and have an­other source of in­come. (From FVQ & GCM of Su­perBalita Cebu, LRC)
