Second suspect in Silawan slay falls
THE chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO), Police Senior Superintendent Limuel Obon, confirmed that a second suspect in the murder of Christine Lee Silawan was arrested on Tuesday morning, April 9.
The police are withholding the identity of the suspect and the circumstances of the arrest.
According to a reliable source who requested anonymity, the suspect is of legal age and was found near the area where Silawan’s body was dumped in Sitio Mahayahay in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.
The suspect reportedly confessed what he knows about the killing of the 16-yearold.
Reporters waited for a chance to interview the police officials who are privy to the arrest after their closed-door meeting at the LCPO headquarters late Tuesday afternoon, but Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Chief Debold Sinas said “no media interview.”
Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said they are ready to offer livelihood assistance to Silawan’s mother, Lourdes Pardillo.
Radaza said she wants Pardillo to have a stable income to help ease her misery after losing her daughter.
The City will assess what kind of livelihood it can give Pardillo.
Radaza said she has not heard from the grieving mother but she learned that the small store in front of their house is already being repaired so Pardillo can go back to selling goods.
With the help of good Samaritans, Pardillo also reportedly had the second floor of their house fixed so they can rent it out and have another source of income. (From FVQ & GCM of SuperBalita Cebu, LRC)
