Transforming the Youth through Quality Education
Education is believed to be the key in transforming the youth to be the best persons and citizens they could ever be. Thus, much effort is exerted in improving the quality of education in the Philippines.
Education, as connotatively defined, is the action or the process of teaching someone or some with specific knowledge, wisdom and skills with the end result of proficiency among its beneficiaries. In another description, education is one of the primary means that transforms the lives of the youth to become better functioning individuals who could provide better and efficient service among their fellows.
Having said that education is a means in transforming the lives of the youth, it may be safe to say then that, teachers, as the main “men” of these process must be competent, equipped with knowledge, skills and values necessary to develop learners to higher level of proficiency.
With this end goal in mind, every school and all the educators who practice their vocation must ensure that they have what it takes to provide the best quality and accessible education for the Filipino learners who are perceived to be the “heirs” of the country in the near future. To do this, they must be open to changes, challenges and all learning opportunities necessary for their growth and development, as well as those of their learners.
As the late Nelson Mandela once stated, education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world. This only means that through the educative process, the Filipino learners are gradually prepared to eventually run the nation using the information, wisdom, skills and positive attitude they had acquired from Kindergarten to college education which may even continue to post graduate studies.
All the assertions presented boils down to the essence of education in changing and even transforming the lives of the youth, the next generation, to efficiently and effectively run and manage the nation for the benefit of every citizen. To do this, every teacher must work hand-in-hand to realize the mandates of the Department of Education of providing the best possible education for all types of learners in order to prepare them well with their future role of managing the nation.
