TEACHING IS TANTAMOUNT TO OPTIMISM

-

MELANIE D. TAN

There are times that we feel teaching is hard especially in dealing with the students nowadays. We easily feel exhausted at the end of the day and thinking of working again the next day with the same routine. Teachers are bombarded with a lot of paper works that need to be prepared and submitted. Aside from that, teachers need to meticulously formulate a lesson plan that will suit the capabilities of the learners. And a lesson plan for the day contains a lot of activities for the students to learn while enjoying. That is the trend in teaching these days.

It is not a bad thing to do all these things because the preparations that a teacher does is for the benefit of the students. Though at times it can seem that energy in teaching is in a short supply due to different unavoidable circumstances in life, we still manage to accomplish the tasks that are assigned to us. To still continue to teach our students even if we have personal difficulties, we still prepare our lessons and research needed activities for the day or for a whole week. As we do all of these tasks amidst the burden that we invisibly carry, we still find inspirations that that help us be reminded on why we do what we do.

We teach because we believe in the capabilities of every individual that we encounter and that are entrusted to us. Teaching is having faith in one’s abilities. Teachers are regarded as second parents to students. With this, we should never discourage any single individual that enters in our classroom whether he or she learns in a fast or slow pace. We have to keep in mind that teachers are the people who actually never give up in educating a student or even outside the school set-up for this is what we do. This is the passion of every single teacher.
