Positive Leadership
DOLORES S. GARCIA
Being a leader is a difficult job. It is much more than giving orders, managing
employees, or providing annual performance reports; it is a task that requires
dedication and a wide range of skills. However, leading others can get messy and
complicated, but it’s a vital role – and a vital role to get right.
Job title does not matter when it comes to leadership. Everyone has the ability
to consistently bring out the best in people. However, it is not easy to positively
influence other people. Being a positive leader takes time and there are ways on
how to become one. When a leader keeps on blaming other people when things
don’t go according to plan, then that person is not a leader at all. Leaders do not
complain, they focus on what could be done to solve the problem in order to create
an effective workplace.
A positive leader is leads the team with optimism and vision. He or she focuses
on where they are going not where they are now. No matter the circumstances, a
positive leader keeps on reminding the employees on what their goal is so that they
may keep on moving forward and one step closer to their goal.
Moreover, a positive leader does not lead with fear. Fear divides and drains
people. A leader who uses fear does not help their employees to become efficient
in their work; rather it makes them ineffective and unmotivated to do their duties.
In addition, positive leaders make people around them feel encouraged instead
of hopeless. They listen to new ideas and uplift people around them. These leaders
believe in the abilities of their employees and trust them which bring out success.
In conclusion, leadership is not easy but it is not impossible. A person doesn’t
have to be at a higher position in order to create an impact. Leadership starts
anytime and the points mentioned will be of help in becoming a positive leader. A
person with optimism and a positive energy transforms the negativity that often
sabotages teams. A positive attitude will allow a leader to overcome negativity, face
the adversity, and keep moving forward.
