THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS AMONG TEACHERS
Maricel I. Santos
We are indeed on a digital era. Anywhere we go and everything we see, there is a touch of technology. Gone are the days where students read textbooks, proceed to libraries and search from encyclopedias and almanacs, write letters as a form of communication and focus on the writings on the boards while on eyes to their teachers. These scenarios are now just part of the past. Whether we like it or not, everything changes. Definitely, we learned from the past; surely, we are learning at present and most importantly, we should improve for the future.
To cope up with the high demand of technology in educating the 21st century learners, one of the professional interventions that, we, teachers must do is to further our knowledge in multi-media presentations. We may be computer literate and have been using powerpoint presentations and other Microsoft Offices, video clips, animations and audio-visual presentations but I think, these aren’t enough to equal the high-end interests and knowledge of our learners when it comes to technology.
Learning multimedia presentations will help us create interactive instructional material soft wares which we can use in teaching any learning area. This will also enable us to to create an exclusive web site or a virtual classroom for our class where they could freely exchange ideas, submit written outputs or other performance tasks, view compilations of lesson-related videos, search investigatory projects and the like. This will definitely improve our facilitating skills and will surely motivate our learners.
Embrace it or not, learning multimedia presentations is really a high demand.
