Gamboa lauds NCRPO capacity building measures vs. Covid-19
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa lauded the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) for its continuing efforts to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemi c.
Gamboa made this comment after the NCRPO acquired a retrofitted fire truck through a donation by its Advisory Council to be used for decontamination and disinfection of the entire Camp Bagong Diwa, headquarters of NCRPO, in Taguig City.
"The NCRPO’s capacity building measures will ensure that they can immediately and sufficiently respond to public emergency situations. With health being a crucial issue at this time, prevention is key to keep our people safe,” Gamboa said in a statement on Saturday.
In a report to the PNP chief, the NCRPO Regional Headquarters Support Unit said the Fire Base Section, under the Camp Security Section, has also been activated with proper coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to double their efforts in the camp against the possible spread of Covid-19.
Currently, the newly-activated Fire Base Section is composed of 12 personnel headed by a Police Executive Master Sergeant that functions as first responders in case of fire emergencies inside the camp and nearby areas.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said the fire truck was retrofitted and is now in good operational condition.
He said the Taguig City BFP trained the NCRPO personnel to ensure that the equipment is properly taken care of and will be used accordingly.
"We are upgrading our operational capabilities and this equipment is an indispensable aid to uphold the safety of the camp and my men in case any untoward incident involving fire shall occur. We have always believed that prevention is better than cure,” Sinas said in a separate statement. ---(PNA)
