CSF provides food, financial assistance to severely affected residents

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO-- The City government of San Fernando has provided food, nonfood and financial assistance to residents severely affected by the community quarantine.

“We formed Task Force Kalinga which provides food, non-food and financial assistance prioritizing families of probable and suspect cases, urban poor and those in depressed barangays,” Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said during Monday’s episode of Network Briefing News on Radyo Pilipinas which was hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar.

These families were able to receive food packages, medicines, multivitamins, alcohol and face masks.

Apart from this, the city government provided about PhP8.5 million worth of aid to all barangays, each receiving from PhP150,000 to PhP550,000 depending on population.

Meanwhile, mobile markets were established by the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office in an effort to decongest the city’s public markets.

“It roams in every barangay of the city where residents can avail fresh agricultural and non-agricultural products such as meat, fish, eggs, vegetables and other basic kitchen necessities,” Santiago shared.

Fernando women’s groups were also tapped to operate an online talipapa to render market services through online platforms and texting.

While the city government provided initial investment, whatever profit from this project goes directly to the women’s gr ou ps.
