-

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will provide livelihood seeding and enterprise development assistance to micro entrepreneurs whose businesses were severely affected by the community quarantines imposed due to the coronavirus disease crisis.

“DTI issued Department Order No. 20-46 specifying the inclusion of micro entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic as beneficiaries of the Pangkabuhayan sa PagBangon at Ginhawa (PBG),” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles expl ai ned.

PBG is a livelihood seeding and enterprise development program originally provided to victims of fire incidents and natural and manmade calamities such as the Taal Volcano eruption.

Under the PBG program for Taal volcano victims, livelihood packages worth PhP10,000 were given to beneficiaries to restart their livelihood.

“This will also support Executive Order No. 114 otherwise known the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa program which assists individuals who would like to try livelihood opportunities outside of Metro Manila and other urban centers,”

Angeles added.

Meanwhile, Department Order No. 20-46 also tasked DTI Provincial Offices to provide livelihood training to help beneficiaries sustain their businesses.

“These capacity building activities will be done in small batches or through online learning tools and materials to be able to observe social distancing,”Angeles furthered.

DTI is also hopeful that these initiatives will help health disaster affected businesses survive and further provide employment in the countryside. ---Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu / PIA-3
