- ---LMY

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---THE state weather bureau advised the public and disaster management agencies to prepare and monitor for updates, as the low pressure area (LPA) off the coast of Eastern Samar is expected to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hour s.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, the LPA was located at 30 kilometers east northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

"Due to its proximity to land, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals may be hoisted immediately once this LPA develops into a tropical depression," said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa) .

It added that the LPA and the prevailing "southwesterly windflow" over Palawan, Western Visayas and Mindanao will bring widespread moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Visayas.

The weather disturbance will also bring scattered to widespread light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Bicol and the rest of Visayas.

There will also be scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rainshower over southern Luzon, Romblon, Marinduque, the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Soccsksargen, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

"Flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonges rainfall, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards," said Pagasa. Pagasa advised fisherfolk and those using small seacrafts to take precaution when venturing over the eastern seaboard of Bicol and Eastern Visayas.
