Manila launches online public forum

-

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has launched a segment in his weekly Capital Report where his constituents can ask their questions and concerns to the city government .

“Itanong mo kay Yorme” is the online version of the Mayor’s Hour which was regularly held at the Bulwagang Katipunan of the Manila City Hall until the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic hit the country.

Domagoso said this is an avenue for him to personally talk to his constituents and answer their queries, especially that mass gathering is not allowed and physical distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Mga kababayan tuwing Biyernes pwede nyo po akong makausap, gagamitin natin technology. Ito simple, kayong mga nanonood, gusto nyong me itanong sa atin pwede namin kayong tawagan tapos mag uusap tayo ng live, para marinig ng gobyerno yung hinaing, kakailanganin o baka mer ong pwedeng maitulong ang pamahalaang lungsod sa si t w asyon ng mamamayan (Every Friday, you may directly ask your question to me. We will use the new technology. This is simple, those who are watching who have questions, we can talk live so your government can hear and help you),” Domagoso sai d.

During his Capital Report on Friday, Domagoso received five live calls via online and answered their queries.

“I really wanted to hear from you, please. Pag me kailangan ayusin, aayusin naming sa abot ng aming makakaya (We will try to solve problems as much as we can)," he said.

Meanwhile, Domagoso also encouraged business owners to register and pay their taxes online via the Manila Go app to avoid going to the city hall and queueing.

Aside from the business tax payment, people can now also use the app to apply for their needed civil registry certificates.

He said as of the moment, those who are applying to get birth certificates may do so online, while other types of certificates such as marriage and death certificates will be available on the app soon.

Another service that will soon be available in the Go Manila app is the

Job Manila to help Manila residents looking for work.

"Magkakaron tayo ng tinatawag na Job Manila kung saan yung mga negosyo, employer naghahanap ng particular sets of individual, yung utaw (tao) naghahanap naman ng opportunity makapaghanapbuhay ipagdudugtong natin, through PESO (Public Employment Office) natin (We will have a Job Manila where businesses looking for individuals will be connected to those seeking employment through the PESO)," he said.

Domagoso assured people who use the app that their personal information is safe and will not be given or even be accessible to a third party.

“We follow the new law, you are being protected by the data privacy act,” he said.

Domagoso also included another segment called “Trivia Manila” where he asks questions about the history of Manila and gives out prizes to those who will be able to answer correctly his question.

“I really wanted to be of service and I appreciate it when you appreciate us mas lalo po kaming bubuti (we will serve you better)," he said. ---(PNA)
