4 LGUs in metro report 134 new Covid-19 cases

THE Cebu City Health Department (CHD) recorded 73 new cases of the coronaviru­s disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Saturday, June 13, 2020.

The CHD also recorded seven new laboratory-negative or recoveries from Barangays Camputhaw (one) and Mambaling (one) and the Cebu City Jail (five), bringing the total laboratory-negative in the city to 1,858. This is equivalent to a 54 percent recovery rate.

One additional death was also recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 37. The latest fatality was from Barangay Basak Pardo.

The new Covid-19 cases were reported in

Barangays Basak Pardo (two), Basak San Nicolas (five), Budlaan (one), Camputhaw (nine), Capitol Site (one), Duljo Fatima (two), Guadalupe (one); Guba (one), Hipodromo (one), Inayawan (four), Kal unasan (one), Kasambagan (one), Kinasang-an (two), Labangon (one), Lahug (three), Lorega San Miguel (two), Mabolo (one), Mambaling (three), Pahina San Nicolas (one), Pahina Central (one), Pit-os (one), Punta Princesa (one), Sambag 2 (three), Tejero (three), Tinago (one) Tisa (four) and in the Cebu City Jail (17).

Cebu City now has a total of 3,434 Covid-19 positive patients, but only 1,576 are active cases.

Mandaue City recorded 53 confirmed Covid-19 cases, all coming from the community.

The Mandaue City Public Informatio­n Office said all the new confirmed Covid-19 cases are the first-generation contacts of previous Covid-19 patients.

The new cases are from Bar angay Subangdaku (14), Barangay Alang-Alang (one), Barangay Centro (one), Barangay Tabok (16), Bar an gay Mantuyong (seven), Barangay Bakilid (two), Barangay Canduman (two), Barangay Looc (two), Bar an gay

Casuntinga­n (one), Barangay Ibabao-Estancia (one) and Barangay Cabancalan (six). Mandaue City now has 401 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 95 recoveries and seven deaths.

In Lapu-Lapu City, six people were found to be positive for Covid-19.

On his official Facebook page, Mayor Junard Chan, who himself tested positive for the new coronaviru­s last Thursday, said the new patients are residents of Barangays Pajo, Mactan, Maribago, Pajac, Gun-ob and Pusok.

The six have been transferre­d to isolation facilities with their close

contacts now swabbed and placed on home quarantine.

Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr., for his part, announced that two more people from his city tested positive for Covid-19.

Gullas said the two new cases are a 20-year-old health care worker from Barangay Cansojong who works in a private hospital in Cebu City and a 29-year-old woman from San Roque who gave birth in a government hospital in Cebu City on Friday, June 12.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Talisay City has reached 106, with 30 recoveries and 15 deaths. (JJL, JKV, KFD)
