SAN SIMON - Six individuals were arrested by local authorities here in separate instances for not wearing face masks while in public place.

This town's chief of police

Major Freddie Herry identified the suspects as Aldrin Franco, 22; Angelito Reyes, 19; and Jayson Manalo, 21, all are residents of adjacent Mexico t ow n.

Herry said the suspects were flagged down at the border control point in Barangay Sta. Monica here for violation of "no backride" policy.

Upon approaching apprehending officers, they noticed that two of the suspects were not wearing face masks, which is a violation of Provincial Ordinance 756.

The said ordinance passed by the Sangguniang

Panlalawigan requires all individuals to wear face masks when outside of their residence or while in public place.

Meanwhile, three more individuals were rounded up for violating the same order and Executive Order 11-A 2020 which sets municipal-wide curfew, said Herry.

Herry also disclosed that the suspects also allegedly failed to present quarantine passes which are still required when going outside of residence.

The six suspects were already charged for all the violations they have committed but were were given temporary liberty after posting bail.

Herry reminded Simonians to observe the mandatory wearing of face masks policy and other health protocols implemented to avoid being apprehended by police.

"We are serious in implementing health protocols because they are all intended to safeguard the public from the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019," he said.
