DOH lists over 700 new cases, admits recoveries, deaths may be higher

-

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, June 27, 2020, reported 738 new cases of coronavirus infection that increased the country’s total to 34,803.

The DOH also reported that 249 additional patients have recover ed from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total recoveries to 9,430.

Twelve additional mortalities were listed, raising the death toll to 1,236.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, in a press briefing on Friday, June 26, said actual recoveries and deaths may be higher than than the ones recor ded.

"We are continuously validating all of the cases that had been identified as confirmed positive cases but we do not have their outcomes at all. Once we have completed the data, we can see that the numbers will increase," said

Ver gei r e.

She said this was because the Barangay Health Response Teams (BHERTs) has not been able to monitor all patients who recovered or died while under home quar ant i ne.

"Many cases can no longer be monitored by the BHERTs. Therefore, we are unable to tag them as having recovered or to have died because of Covid-19," sai d Ver gei r e.

The GAD office also clarified residents in other barangays who were categorized as "additional" or those included in the "waitlisted of unserved families" will also received two batches of cash aids.

Residents of Marcos Village, classified as "additional families" will also receive two tranches of cash assistance, the City GAD said.

"Ang mga kasali sa second tranche ay ang mga naka-receive ng first tranche na qualified pa rin pagkatapos ng post-validation ng DSWD at grievance na ginawa ng aming tanggapan," the GAD office added.
