Engaging Children in Worthwhile Activity During Home Quarantine

- ***** MASTER TEACHER 1 AT EDILBERTO M. GANZON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Vulnerable. That’s how the WHO categorized elderlies and children in this pandemic. Did it ever crossed your mind if how this in-a-wink-of-an eye situation was being handled by those little ones? Many are focused on the elderlies thinking that they are more prone to mental stress. Little did we know that young children are also prone to stress. Imagine yourself being child again and was asked to stay at home for 24/ 7. No playmates, no outdoor activities lying on the couch instead of them running around in their vast playground. How would you feel? But worry not because no matter how tiny their feet and hands are, or how fragie their small stature are they are the gifted with the ability to adapt and adjust in their environment. What better way to do that? You. Yes, you. As parent, or guardian you now have more time to spend with them. On way to take away their stress is to engage them in worthwhile activities. Allow them to help in age appropriate activities to develop their self-reliance skill. Let them feed their pet so they can have sense of responsibility. Do not just let them kill their time on screen or cellphones doing the most trending tiktok. Nothing is wrong in engaging in tiktok however allowing them to get addicted to it is what should be stopped. Try to limit their screen time. What the world needs now is love and not a tiktoker so better be mindful always on what kind of activities you allow your children to engage.
