No Filipino learner left behind

THE Department of Education has always assured the public that “no learner will be left behind” even as the country deals with the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the agency, it will exhaust all possible means to ensure that education reaches every learner in the country.

The DepEd has come up with a variety of learning modes – or blended learning – in this trying time, when COVID-19 has rendered face-to-face classes suspended until a vaccine for COVID-19 has been found.

The blended learning strategy was formulated in response to the health crisis, which has challenged the Education department to no end.

For this school year, the DepEd will be utilizing online or TV or radio-based learning modules, and if learners do not have access to both these platforms, then there is modular learning where materials will be printed and delivered to the homes of students.

The DepEd’s Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) will serve as a guideline on how to deliver education in time of the COVID-19 pandemic while ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all learners, teachers, and personnel of the agency.

One main feature of BE-LCP is the adoption of multiple learning delivery modalities, with blended learning and distance learning as major options. This is to ensure that they will cater to the different needs and situations of learners.

Because COVID has a significant long-term impact on our children, there is a need to save the school year by keeping schools open – but safe.
