Orienting parents on new modesof learning
BECAUSE we were all caught unprepared by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Education had to find other ways for education to reach learner s.
In view of this, a lot of parents are confused as to the new learning modules, and have met this school year with apprehension.
That is why the DepEd, in order for parents to have a better understanding of how education will be delivered to their children this upcoming school year, will be setting up an orientation for parents before classes formally start in August.
This will be part of the school opening preparations of DepEd for school year (SY) 2020-2021, the agency said.
This orientation is to make sure that everyone involved in the education of learners, including stakeholders and parents, will understand the Basic Education -Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).
The BELCP, developed by DepEd in response to the disruptions in education due to the COVID-19, was designed to ensure that the health and safety of learners and teachers are prioritized without sacrificing learning continuity.
Not only will orientations for parents be conducted, but also dry-runs and simulations are being conducted by various regional and division offices, in preparation for the “new normal’in learning.
Meanwhile, according to the DepEd, activity sheets will be given to learners and delivery of learning will also depend on the capacity of student. If they have access online, teachers and parents can communicate with each other especially in giving feedbacks.
Guides will also be given to parents alongside self-learning modules for learners. This is how the instruction is going to take place at home.
