A TEACHER’S ROLE AT THIS PANDEMIC ERA

-

Never did I imagine that such an era like this would happen. Unscheduled closing of schools, nationwide or even worldwide lockdown, stay at home scenarios, shortage on basic commodities and essentials and more… .

If not of this pandemic, I would have been able to complete all the school year-end tasks and probably on my second month of happy teaching at present just like how it is in the usual school calendar.

However, during this crucial period, every teacher plays an important role. A responsibility to make sure that education continues no matter what. From reminding all the learners to stay home and reiterating to them the importance of following precautionary measures up to making sure that they will not stop studying.

Making the learners and parents understand the different learning modalities is another obligation among teachers. Preparing learning materials for distance learning is an additional task. Following up on enrolment is as important as preparation of lesson plans. Working from home from dawn to dusk in order to submit and update all reports on time. Attending never-ending webinars to catch up on the new normal and teleconferencing with superiors, peers and colleagues as ways of communication.

These are just few of the many challenging roles of teachers at this pandemic time. I am a teacher at this era and I vow to accept these multi-tasks.
