TPLEx reduces Manila-Baguio travel time to 3 hours
MABALACAT CITY -Travel time from Metro Manila to Baguio City will be reduced from six to three hours with the opening of the Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEx).
This was stated by Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar during the opening of the expressway on July 15.
"The Tar l ac Pangasinan La Union Expressway is now open. Travel time from Manila to Bagio is now reduced from six to only three hours," VIllar stated.
The DPWH and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) officially opened the final section of the 89.21 kilometer TPLEx on Wednesday.
The opening of the 11-kilometer segment will reduce the travel time from Tarlac to Rosario in La Union from three and a half hours to just one hour.
The newly-opened Pozorrubio,
Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union segment is expected to accommodate more than
20,000 vehicles ever yd ay.
SMC President Ramon S. Ang lauded President Duterte and Villar for supporting the project.
"Because of the political will of President Duterte, the hard work and follow-through of DPWH Secretary Mark VIllar and of the support of government's entire economic team, we were able to complete this major project that will benefit so many regions in Luzon," Ang sai d.
The expressway project is part of the Duterte Administration's Build Build Build infrastructure projects, according to the DPWH chief.
"Since July 2016, the Duterte Administration has completed a total of 137,098 classroms; 129 evacuation centers; 23,657 kilometers of roads, 4,959 of bridges, and 8,941 flood mitigation structures and drainage system projects," Villar said.
MABALACAT CITY--Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has thanked thanked the three outgoing vice presidents of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) for their service.
The three vice presidents, who opted to retire early, have contributed more than 20 years of service that is beneficial for both the city government and the CDC.
In his letter to outgoing Vice Presidents for Engineering Service Group Engineer Alveen Tabag; Vice President for Legal Services Group Perlita Sagmit; and Vice President for Business Development and Enhancement Group Evangeline Tejada, Garbo conveyed his sincerest gratitude in behalf of the city government of Mabalacat for all the support and concern that they have constantly accorded during their tenure at CDC.
The mayor commended Tabag’s initiatives in coordinating the planning and implementation of various road and flood control projects that are mutually beneficial to the Clark Freeport and Mabalacat City.
Garbo also expressed appreciation to Tejada for facilitating the collection of the city government’s 2 percent share from the GIE tax payments of Clark locators.
“With your help, our collection efficiency has improved from 2017 when I assumed office as City Mayor up to the present time,” Garbo said referring to Tejada.
Meanwhile, the mayor thanked lawyer Sagmit for all the support and concern that she had extended for the city government.
“We congratulate all of you for the accomplishments and milestones that you have achieved in your 20 to 24 years of service in CDC as we wish you all the best as you pursue your next endeavors in your professional and personal life. Dakal a salamat kekayungan abe!” Garbo said.
The three outgoing CDC vice presidents served the corporation for more than two decades. Sagmit served for 21 years, while Tabag and Tejada for 24 years.
They opted for early retirement in order to avail of a retirement package that may soon be discontinued in the government corporate sector.
