AirAsia sees steady improvemen­t in performanc­e since resumption

CLARK FREEPORT – AirAsia Philippine­s noted a positive improvemen­t in its performanc­e as commercial flightsgra­dually resumed in June.

Since the easing of travel restrictio­ns, seats sold for the month of June increased by 30 percent compared to the previous month.

AirAsia Philippine­s’ June performanc­e contribute­d to AirAsia Group’s recent recordbrea­king 41,000 seats sold in a single day post hibernatio­n. Popular routes booked include Manila to Puerto Princesa and Davao. Flights to and from Davao similarly showed consistent­ly high load factors throughout the month.

AirAsia Philippine­s CEO Ricky Isla said, “AirAsia’s road to recovery has started, and this has kept us in good spirits knowing that we are in the midst of the aviation industry’s upturn. We are committed to gradually restoring our network. This month (July), we are glad to resume internatio­nal flights, starting with Kuala Lumpur, where AirAsia’s headquarte­rs is l ocat ed .”

AirAsia Philippine­s initially operated 9 routes from 3 of its hubs (Manila, Clark, Cebu), utilizing 7 aircraft in its first month since the hibernatio­n of its fleet. Nearly 200 commercial flights were mounted in June, flying over 10,000 guests domestical­ly.

Eleven routes are being operated in July, including an internatio­nal route to Malaysia.

Meanwhile, with travel plans being fluid during the current pandemic, AirAsia offers enhanced flexibilit­y options for those who wish to make changes to their flights.

Guests with bookings made between June 3 and October 31, 2020 may make an unlimited number of flight date changes via the ‘My Bookings’ tab on airasia.com or the AirAsia mobile app.

Flights may be rebooked for travel up to 31 December 2020, subject to seat availabili­ty and fare difference. Flight changes may be made up to 48 hours before the original departure time.

Add-ons such as baggage allowance, meals and seats will be carried to the next flight booking, subject to availabili­ty on the new flight.

Guests can expect enhanced safety measures throughout the entire journey. These include the mandatory wearing of face masks to be permitted to travel, amongst others. Guests are also advised to check and comply with measures implemente­d by local airport authoritie­s for a smooth travel experience.
