Prepared to teach

-

Florence M. Bernardo

From the moment classes were suspended back in March and the implementation of General Community Quarantine and the rising of the cases the virus brings, there is no certainty on the things that will happen next. I first thought of what will happen in the near future, will classes be on hold for months, or even years? How will we survive in this kind of pandemic? These are just some of the questions that I have in mind back then.

As announcements were made by the heads and the imposition of the new normal, one thing I know is that I have to be prepared.

A lot of doubts also entered in my mind into thinking that will I become effective with this kind of format? Will my students learn a lot from me behind their screens? But as an educator of these children I should have the courage for what’s to come.

I know most teachers like me haven’t yet experienced teaching online. But if this is for the best in order for the students to learn, then we are bolder to face it. Accessing laptops and computers may be a little hard for us we but can adjust with it and prepare the best materials they can use. This technology is a helpful tool in incorporating different information and ideas that are fit for the students’learning. A lot of questions concerning the lesson will also be asked by the students which is I also expect.

We should just act like how we act in front of them; eager to answer their questions and patient in hearing their demands.

This new normal will not be easy for students, parents, and teachers like me. This online learning will be a challenge for all of us but we should be more than ready to face it. With the help of technology and the serving hearts of the teachers, we can still and we will deliver quality learning for the betterment of the students.
