Steps to Be Involved in Teaching Araling Panlipunan With the Use of a Movie
Rey Anthony L. Acosta
A motion picture or "movies" is a collection of linked animated images arranged in a sequence that is set. It could have a soundtrack with it, or not. This can be either black and white or colorful.
The Use of Movies
Teaching through a film is like the normal form of the lecture but there is only presentation and interpretation of behavior that makes it more vibrant. Because we all know that all gained knowledge passes first and foremost to the sense, therefore, we will teach with actual things or processes. This approach would be more successful as the information being imparted passes through not just the sense of hearing but also the sense of sight.
Films will carry complex events to the classroom. They show things going. And the first thing to look for in a movie is the inclusion of scenes that measure up to the medium's capabilities.
Movies require the students to write a thorough description of how the object is represented. Using high-speed, slow-motion imagery to display objects will make the sequence shot more useful than ever.
The student can identify and examine the stages of the displayed object via video.
Our process, for a film strip, should be very close. Nevertheless, the film is less readily handled. More content and interactions are expected to turn up, so we need to make some adjustments.
Most importantly, the teacher has to have a complete knowledge of the film. We must take note of all the specific difficulties and positions where more clarification is required for the statement or the caption. The concise notes require critical review. The film's general "plot" will be reduced to a short statement which will be used as an introduction. The sequences, the use of animation, natural photography, "flashback" and any other device used in the making of the film should be given care.
A good teacher, having had his first view of the film, arranges a second screening for one or two members of his class, their reactions provide a guide to the reaction of the rest of the class. He or she can make the best arrangements for the film's showing and its presentation process.
