The Good Things about being a Public Servant
Melanie C. Dela Cruz
1. You meet different dynamic individuals
When this happens, you’ll be able to be confident of your own capability. You will also realize that there are more to be learned and that you must engage yourself in life-long learning. Meeting with dynamic individuals can be one of the best teachers you can have in life. No doubt there is much you can learn from other public servants.
2. You gain more patience
You will understand that not all people have the same attitude, personality and capability. Some people learn fast and some learn slowly. Having a good negotiating/communicating skill is what you need here, because people and communication are the heart of this sector. Understanding differences among people develops your patience.
3. Decision-making ability
Working as a public servant, sometimes you’ll need to make tough decisions under pressure. You will be someone who won’t shy away from coming up with solutions when you encounter a difficult problem. You need to be someone with a calm, logical and solutions-focused approach to problems.
4. Time management
You will be able to manage your workload and submit the report on or before the deadline. You will be a natural organizer who can do multiple paper works and someone who knows when to focus to finish the work on time.
