Teacher’s Personality, Roles And Competencies
Myra M. Gannod
Efficient teaching is one of the most significant topics in education. Good teachers have the following characteristics: love, compassion, friendliness, egalitarian attitudes, cooperative attitudes, discipline, open-mindedness, and general interests. Good teachers are often described as people full of empathy for the concerns of the students, eager to support them, allowing for different activities in the classroom as well as maintaining order, having a sense of humor, and good knowledge of the subjects of school.
Teachers should be good and entertaining speakers, have a strong sense of humor, know how to make jokes, and treat all students fairly.
The temperament of an educator should be warm-hearted, compassionate, and welcoming, in comparison to cold, defensive, self-centered, and restrictive. Teachers should be accountable, competent, and structured as opposed to behavioral inconsistency and ambiguity. In comparison to repetitive behavior, they can demonstrate stimulating activity, imaginativeness, and excitement.
Emotional characteristics are also significant, like emotional stability and self-control. Empathy as a factor in the successful work of teachers plays a significant part in their performance. Various aspects of the teacher's work and some of his/ her responsibilities need to be identified.
It's very clear that the functions of the teacher are various and complex. In the real environment, the roles of teachers can be divided into 1) teaching and administration; 2) roles that are socially focused towards individual students and the entire community, and 3) roles that are self-expressing.
The job of teachers in the narrowest sense (teacher as a lecturer, teacher as an organizer, pedagogic contact associate, subject area expert). They also have motivational functions (motivating students to study, encouraging and honoring their interests, teacher as a model for career guidance).
The teacher will have sufficient competencies to perform all of these positions, which embody a mixture of characteristics, talents, experience, and skills.
