GEARING TOWARDS THE NEW NORMAL
Dr. AMPARO M. MUÑOZ
As it readies for a school opening that is like no other, the Department of Education (DepEd) assured that preparations are in place to ensure that the opening of classes will be as smooth and orderly as possible.
DepEd, in a statement, acknowledged the support of parent and teacher organizations, national and local government units, private institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) to be implemented this School Year (SY) 20202021.
Amid the challenges the education system faces in the “new normal,” DepEd assured that it will “continue to make the necessary preparations fit for the needs of every teacher, parent, and learner to ensure that education continues while also giving the utmost priority to their health and safety.” deped-assures-preparations-in-place-for-smooth-school-opening-on-aug-24/
DepEd Tarlac Province Personnel, as witnessed, is a non-stop working agency to cope up with the needs to support the plans for the continuity of the learning process for the school year 20202021. Research studies for the completion of the modules needed of the learners based on the modalities that will be utilized. Webinars for teachers are also set and scheduled in order for them to be equipped in dealing with the new normal in the education setting.
Cristo Rey High School which is under my care as School Head, making my part for this preparation based on DepEd proposal regarding healthy and safety start of the school year 20202021. Plans, organization and reorganization, searching and researching in order to cope up with the BE-LCP based on the current situation of the country and also based on the situation of the place where my school is located are being processed.
Together with the head teachers of Cristo Rey High School, thoroughly studied the situation of the learners and people in the community and came up with some possible solutions in making education for this school year will be smoothly and safely delivered to our learners. Some of the important and need attention is the sectioning or grouping of the learners, segregating those who are on different modalities like modular, online and blended based on the information from the enrolment. The schedule of the learners together with the teachers again on different modalities always considered. The procedures in releasing and retrieving the modules. Parents, who are our partners must also be informed on their part or role in the success of this school year’s education process. Teachers are also obliged to make their learning kits based on the MELC as an alter on the modules prepared by the DepEd Tarlac Province.
These are many considerations our school is preparing to make this school pandemic year a successful year for the learners.
