ITY OF SAN FERNANDO---Carrying on the legacy of country

development and love for Kapampangans fostered by Laus Group of Companies (LGC) Founder Levy P. Laus, the LausGroup, through its socio-civic arm Levy P. Laus Foundation and regional network CLTV36, are partnering with the Department of Education (DepEd) City of San Fernando Schools Division , for the innovative "Alpabasa Program" under Republic Act 8525 or the "Adopt- A- School Act of 1998."

LausGroup, a conglomerate with diversified interests in automotive dealerships, non-life insurance, food, media and other ancillary businesses in Central and North Luzon, is the qualified adopting private entity for "Alpabasa, " a Filipino languagebased reading program developed by educator Tisha Gonzales-Cruz which started in 2002.

The program aims to make children fluent readers in Filipino by means of a game-based system using carefully designed flash cards and books to break down reading as skills. This establishes a link between sound and actions, rather than symbols or letters that have been the chief limitation of previous teaching methods since children learn to read by breaking down a set of sounds and connecting them to print.

Further, "Alpabasa" will specifically provide supplementary and complementary online materials for Kindergarten learners in this time of pandemic; empower and energize children to learn to read with enthusiasm and excitement; and make fluent readers out of every Filipino child through highly effective game-based reading program that incorporates music, movement, games, and activities.

The LausGroup-DepEd project partnership will benefit select Kinder learners from San Agustin Integrated School Annex and Sta. Lucia Integrated School in the City of San Fernando.

And during this time of crisis, young Kapampangans who cannot afford the "Alpabasa" monthly subscription fee will be the primary beneficiaries of the program, courtesy of the Levy P. Laus Foundation, which has strongly supported education since its inception, sending many marginalized but deserving students to colleges and universities of their choice , and all of whom earned their degrees and now with succesful careers.

Always keen on its corporate social responsibility coupled with advocating countryside development, LausGroup is committed in providing the necessary support to facilitate the continuity of education for all young Filipinos, particularly those from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
