Angeles mayor: Self discipline needed to overcome Covid-19

ANGELES CITY --- Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. said that self discipline is a must for the city to win the battle against COVID 19.

"Pairalin ang disiplina sa mga sarili at maging responsabl­e," Lazatin said when he delivered his COVID 19 update Tuesday night.

The mayor issued the statement as the number of coronaviru­s cases in the city has soared to 334 as of September 1, 2020.

Lazatin at the same called on city hall employees and barangay leaders tasked to enforce quarantine protocols to serve as role models to other people.

"Nanawagan po ako sa mga kawani ng city hall at mga barangay officials na inatasang manghuli sa mga lumalabag sa mga regulasyon ng pamahalaan na magsimula sa kanilang mga sarili at disiplina at pagiging responsabl­e," the local chief executive said.

"Tayo po ang nagpapatup­ad kaya tayo po ang dapat na manguna sa pagsunod at paggawa. Pakiusap ko po, magtulunga­n po tayong lahat para sa kaligtasan ng bawat Angeleno," he added.

More than 1,000 individual­s were apprehende­d for violating COVID 19 guidelines inluding the wearing of face mask and shields, prohibitio­n of gatherings, among others, according to Lazat i n .

The city government has recor ded 16 deaths, 126 recovered patients and 192 active cases because of COVID 19 infection, according to Lazatin.

"Patuloy po ang pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID 19 sa ating siyudad. Umabot na po sa 334 ang kabuuang bilang ng positibong kaso, 192 ang aktibong kaso natin at 126 naman po ang gumaling na at 16 naman po ang pumanaw na," Lazatin said.
