Equitable Education

Larry S. Simbulan

-

More than 22 million students were enrolled as of July 25, 2020. This means, the Department of Education did not only allow select few students to progress.

There are different ways on how to deliver learning continuity. One must not limit himself on using only one method or strategy. With the available equipment, materials, and capability of the learners, the teacher may utilize different methods to boost the interest of the learners.

There may be difficulties and hard adjustments in the new normal in education. Probably we could not achieve everything that the face-to-face learning may offer especially some students don’t have reliable internet access. However, if we will try to learn new things, then the impossible may be possible.

In this time of pandemic, with the current situation of the learners, equitable quality learning experience should be considered. Equality is not the opposite of education’s purpose. Equity rather than equality; achieving quality learning experience for the learners appropriate for them. Online learning is not the only solution to continue the education. Furthermore, face-to-face teaching and learning does not also mean, quality education.

Learning should not stop. All journeys start with the first step. We could not reach anything if we would not take the first step.

Incorporate many different work experiences to the students and how to bring our learners into real world challenge.
