THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR NEW NORMAL TEACHING

No face to face! This is the general rule implemented in all schools in the country. This is to prevent the spread of the virus to everyone, especially to our children. The Learning Modality to be used in Educating our children is Distance Learning by means of On-line Teaching, Modular Instruction, Media and other channels that do not allow face to face encounter to the students.

Technology plays an important role in our educational system during this time of pandemic. But the biggest challenge to the educational process is the availability of gadgets and internet connections. Not everyone has a cellphone, not everyone has internet connection, not everyone is adept with the skills of technology.

Not only the learners who are in the lower bracket of society would be faced with the tough challenges, but teachers who are not techy are also affected to the upcoming scenario. As an educator myself, making video lessons is a bitter pill to swallow. Especially if the subject you’re teaching requires practical activities like Physical Education and other TVL subjects.

Though we cannot predict the end of this pandemic, we have to embrace the fact that this is the new normal. Of course, everyone else is still hoping that they could still return to the Traditional means of teaching. But we have to continue our pledge of bringing quality education to our learners. We have to find ways of equipping ourselves with the right tools to deliver our lessons and ensure learning to our students.

With this in mind, the tools we have to utilize so as we could implement the process is a decent internet connection, a laptop, a cellphone, and numerous webinars and software applications to train us in acquiring new skills needed for the new normal.

With God’s grace and divine intervention, may He grant us the wisdom and healing that everyone needs in these difficult times.
