Covid positive hospital worker infects family

MACABEBE - After contractin­g the disease in her workplace, a frontliner has unknow ingly infected three of her family members residing in this town with the coronaviru­s disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The frontliner, codenamed MC #15, is a 33-year-old female from Barangay Caduang

Tete who was among the workers of ASCCOM

Medical Center in Apalit town who tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the Municipal Inter-agency Task

Force (MIATF), the patient was swab tested on

August 29 after she was exposed to her Covid-19 positive co-workers.

The frontliner then immediatel­y went on self-quarantine while awaiting results which turned out positive on August 31.

As part of the contacttra­cing procedure, MIATF identified 12 asymptomat­ic close-contacts of MC#15 which were all subjected to swab testi ng.

On September 2, three of the close-contacts' test results turned out positive: MC #15's mother, sister and br ot her.

MIATF said the three new patients were exposed to the Covid-19 positive frontliner during a birthday gathering in their house.

Both mother and sister reportedly stayed at home after the gathering and until the test results came back.

However, the brother continued to report to his work at the City of San Fernando until August 30, and loss sense of taste and nasal congestion the following day.

MIATF said MC # 15 is

already at a government quarantine facility while her family members are still awaiting transfer.

It was also disclosed that five families are living in the same household as the Covid-19 positive pat i ent s.
