Challenges of Students in the New Normal

Paulo S. Lozano

-

In the beginning and during the lockdown, everyone is thinking about their future. Students need to stop going to school during those times and stay at home until now. The following are the challenges that students need to deal with this coming school year.

For students who do not have the internet at home, they will have their selflearning modules. One of my students told me that it will be harder to read and understand modules without the assistance of a teacher. There are slow, average, and fast learners, and their learning preferences and styles are different. Non-reader learners will also find it hard to understand what is written in the modules.

Students who do not have enough learning materials at home will have limited sources and limited knowledge about their lessons. They will only rely on the modules given by their teachers. They will not able to explore and learn more.

Parents who need to go to work will not able to monitor and assist in the needs of their kids. They will not be able to teach their kids during class hours.

Some have a slow internet connection at home and if this will happen during an online class, it will be hard for students to understand the lesson. They should ask for more lectures from the teacher and in some cases, as for remedial online class.

Challenges are part of our lives. Always use these challenges to make ourselves better for our future.
