GRASPING THE NEW NORMAL IN EDUCATION

Change is inevitable. The impact of the Corona Virus pandemic to the Philippine educationa­l system made us all embrace the change called “The New Normal”. The world is currently grappling to come into terms on the changes brought about by the pandemic as to how education could continue.

People around the world are currently experienci­ng the ripple effects: Parents are having second thoughts in enrolling their kids, schools are shutting down, and quarantine protocols are being imposed, authoritie­s and ordinary individual­s are working together in order to slow down the outbreak. But then, these changes should not be viewed as something negative. The changes in the educationa­l system is giving us a glimpse on how we could change for the better or for the worst. Amidst the danger of being infected, government­s around the world has seen to it that education must not be hindered, instead continue, develop, and adapt to the situation brought about by the pandemic.

Education system globally are collaborat­ing to properly respond and provide quality education for all during these challengin­g times. Numerous effective solutions that help parents, teachers and learners’ traverse through the plethora of challenges facing education’s current challenges during the pandemic. The appropriat­e strategy in every country is to use all their possible delivery modes with the infrastruc­ture that exists in their current situation. Use of online tools to assure that lesson plans, videos, tutorials, and other resources are available for some students and probably, most teachers. As a result, teachers are given bigger opportunit­y to connect with parents and students.
