Education must continue

Our lives were put on pause due to the unexpected occurrence of the COVID19 pandemic. Schools were closed. Classes were suspended. Educators and learners shifted to the new normal wherein staying at home was the best choice. None of us was ready for any of it. We had to adjust for us to survive. We had to fight to conquer the unseen enemy.

We started fearing the unknown yet we managed to see the silver lining, and working in the Department of Education has turned my fears into hope that amidst the struggles we face as a nation, our hearts should continuously yearn for knowledge and wisdom. Education must continue, as they say. Education must also be seen outside the four corners of our classroom. It may be in the refuge of our homes and beyond distance from our educators. It is not measured by difficulties, but with the ability to cope and deliver for the betterment of our country’s educational system and for the benefit of our learners.

Our Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Imelda Macaspac, once said, “Education is the most powerful vaccine we can use to protect our learners from risks brought about by this health crisis.” Indeed, the Department of Education, Schools Division Office – City of San Fernando has been exerting all its efforts to transition the educational system fit to the new normal. From the usual face-to-face classes, it has shifted to modular learning system modality supplemented by different TVand radio-based programs fitted to the needs of our learners. All these were made possible through the combined efforts of our Department of Education personnel, stakeholders, educators, parents, and learners. And as we draw near the opening of classes on the 5th of October, 2020, we envision a successful delivery of education to all our learners rooted to our core values – maka-Diyos, maka-tao, makakalikasan at makabansa.

It is through adversities that we have known that learning is limitless, and through perseverance, we will conquer as a nation. Para sa bata, para sa bayan!
