IN THIS time of pandemic, a number of government agencies have reached out to the Department of Education and offered much-needed assistance. There are now reports that even the Bureau of Customs would like to make a donation to the DepEd.

Officials of the BOC said they are now processing the possible donation of confiscated gadgets – cellphones and laptops – to the education department, to aid in the distance learning mode brought about by COVID-19.

According to the BOC, deeds of donation are now being processed so that the gadgets can be donated – subject to clearances.

Apart from the gadgets, the BOC is also eyeing to donate school supplies to the DepEd.

This early, the DepEd and educators are thanking the BOC for the expected donations, and for doing an excellent job in preventing the smuggling of prohibited imported goods.

Because they have done their job well, they have something to provide the DepEd in return – the much needed aid in the digital transition of the coming school year, which will start on October 5.

According to data from DepEd, there are over 24 million students enrolled for the upcoming school year.

There have been concerns over the shift to blended learning, since not every student has gadgets which they can use for online classes.

Good thing the BOC is here to help.
