70 CL entreprene­urs join virtual OTOP trade fair

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Entreprene­urs from Central Luzon participat­ed in the recently concluded One Town, One Product Virtual Trade Fair 2020 hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DTI Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles said 70 micro, small and medium entreprene­urs (MSMEs) participat­ed in the said program which waslive streamed daily at the OTOP Philippine­s Facebook page from

September 24 to 28.

Angeles said the program aims to help MSMEs promote their products nationwide and abroad despite the ongoing pandemic.

Among the Central Luzon products exhibited and sold during the virtual fair were Sabutan and beauty products from Aurora, handicraft­s and marine products from Bataan, sweets and delicacies and wood products from Bulacan, linen, herbal and dairy products from Nueva Ecija, delicacies, nuts and leathercra­ft from Pampanga, sauces, condiments and macramé products from Tarlac, and processed fruit, bayong, bags and

Although the event was concluded, Angeles urged the public to continue supporting local products by purchasing via online.

Meanwhile,DTI Undersecre­tary Blesila A. Lantayona said that the objective of the fair is to have buyers meet, source and connect to the best of the homegrown exhibitors digitally.

She added that this will boost the promotion of OTOP products and sustain MSME developmen­t, which serves as the powerful engine of the country’s economic growth.
