In the midst of pandemic, strengthening the value of education is one of the major challenges we encounter. As we continue to face the issues brought about, our department is considering struggles in making effective plans that will best suit our time today. With the collaboration of various stakeholders in the Department of Education, Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) was crafted to respond in assuring that there will be no freeze for the current school year. This new adjustment provides assurance to the safety, health and well-being of students and teachers. The department produces different modalities of deliveries, learning materials and training for homeschooling. With these, learning will always be present to the development of learners.

One of the highlighted activities for teachers in this season is the Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 (LDM2). Improvement on the readiness of teachers and school leaders for the implementation and management of learning delivery modalities is the main objective of this course. Apart from that, effective and efficient implementation is highly observed. This guarantee a better result for the development of the students.

This course (LDM2) is intended for teachers and is focused on the instructional implications using these alternative LDMs. This will also equip the teachers in executing confidently the lessons in the new LDM. This will only be possible with LAC sessions online since face to face is prohibited. The first part prepares us to teach in the LDM. It includes orientation, MELC, lessons and assessment in the modalities, learning resources and LAC planning. On the second part, practicum-LDM implementation and portfolio building is present. This includes daily lesson logs and recordings of class instructions.

Personally, these changes in the previous curriculum are unexpected. By considering the situations we have at this moment, new normal should be embraced. Of course, in every change we experience, adjustment period is the toughest part. Teachers now a days are still on the process of learning and adopting the new normal. But, always consider the pros and cons of the situation. Looking on the one side, negative comments are being brought out. One of these is the laborious works tasked for teachers. Unexpected and huge responsibilities could not take in preparation for new LDMs. Apart from that, in this depressing situation, deadlines on the accomplishments add pressure. But these are all personal issues that a normal teacher might feel along the process. On the other side of the coin, considering the objectives and goals of LDM2 make you realize that this is well-designed to produce better alternatives in reaching out our students. At the end, we will be assured that it will help us manage the teaching-learning process in the modalities. This also opens opportunities to collaborate with one another to come up with effective and efficient learning outcomes. Lastly, through this, we can contribute to the main goal of the department in addressing the challenge of quality in basic education, “SAMA-SAMA SA PAG SULONG NG EDUKALIDAD.”
