Cazarina L. David
Everybody uses language to communicate, to express ourselves, to get ideas across, and to connect with the person to whom he wants to communicate with. The act of communicating seems to flow relatively effortlessly. When the act of communicating is frustrating, the communicative leadership approach is deteriorating. This can lead to an escalation of intense emotions.
It may be necessary to deal directly with the problem by openly acknowledging and naming the feelings and having an honest discussion about the prior to moving into the substantive issues. If the emotional aspect is undressed, the risk is missing the information as well as the derailing the communication approach.
Both intrapersonal and interpersonal communicative approaches are vital. Intrapersonal approach is the ability to comprehend, apply personal emotions and on how his feelings are being expressed and communicated. Hence, interpersonal approach pertains to the ability of individuals to satisfy the feelings of others.
In any leadership, the emotions of the individuals must be also considered. It is the feeling that can involve physiological arousal or conscious and behavioral experience. It discloses the personal goals, sense of ego the way the leader praises situation or events. Similarly, in addressing important problems and on how the event provoke reactions considering the emotional highs and lows of individuals.
A good leader has the skills in handling challenges and respond to the stressful event without an emotional outburst. In addition, he was able to identify similarities and differences of his subordinates without comparison.
