TEACHERS’ EFFECTIVENESS AMIDST PANDEMIC
Carlo Adrian P. Celis
Teacher’s effectiveness has been one of the major concerns of the academe and administrators. Teachers’ effectiveness is the product of the teachers continuing growth and development; thus, improving the school milieu. It encompasses students’ academic achievements and the development of their totality as persons. Also, it is generally measured by scholastic results shown by students at various levels. The higher the number of grades and the pass percentages, the more effective the teacher is considered.
But how can we maintain the effectiveness of teachers in times of pandemic? Is academic performance significantly related to teachers’ effectiveness at the present times?
As teachers, we need to update and upgrade our skills and knowledge in order to keep up with the fast pace and transitions we are now confronted. We need to always put our best foot forward for us to give and deliver quality education to our clientele, the LEARNERS. No pandemic can stop teachers to strive and continue to achieve professional growth since our major function as teachers is to educate the youth in any way possible. Effectiveness in time of pandemic is measured not only on the academic performance of the learners but more so on how much effort and passion have been exerted to give the best education we can for our students and for making the things IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE for them.
