2020 A CHALLENGING YEAR FOR TEACHERS

How will teaching be in the new normal? How about my students? Will they understand the lessons well without the teachers discussing it? These are just some queries that most teachers ask themselves. W hen classes start on Oct.5,2020

teachers are not only the ones who will have to adjust to the learning scenario but also the students and their parents as well.I understand that this school year is really tough because we are faced with COVID- 19 pandemic.Anyway,we as teachers feel assured since the DepEd is fully committed to fulfill our role in sustaining the children’s right to access quality education while promoting their health, safety and whole being.

It is more vital that parents and guardians should assess the needs and capabilities of their children on the learning modality that best suit for them. This is the reason why the DepEd prepared the alternative learning modalities in lieu of face-to-face classes. Parents and guardians can choose the Modular Learning,Blended Distance Learning ,TV and Radio-based instructions.Modular distance learning is self-study,self-learning and self-reading of the students in their homes. So most parents prefer to use the modular distance learning option. There is no need for parents and students to buy gadgets or devices if their financial status don’t allow them to do so.

In this time of pandemic, teachers are really challenged to face this mode of learning. As the saying goes,”Education must continue.”Filipino educators,I believe are brave to face the challenges in the new normal learning. Why should we be fearful? We have the skills and knowledge and with God’s grace and strength, we can overcome any difficulty. Whatever challenges we are facing today, education must continue.I know teachers are resilient and flexible enough to go through this challenging year.
