A Teacher’s Tenacity is Borne of Passion

Roselle R. Quiambao

In our country, the education sector is seemingly lacking for its operational machinery and is barely holding up whenever there are unprecedented situations that might, and eventually will occur and maintain as effective as it can be to cater the learners what they seek in the first place - effective learning. Learning materials are relatively few which are designed to the blended type learning at some point. Our national government is doing its best particularly these days that we experience the widespread of pandemic but, apparently we find it difficult to go with the flow as we are not quite ready to this kind of situation. The learning approach and strategies in the new normal situation could affect the quality of learning among students, not to mention the learners coming from rural areas who could not afford to avail online learning.

With the mentioned struggles, who wants to get involved in the education sector? Who would dare to shape and refine the potentially new generation of professionals? W ho is brave enough to share the knowledge and truth to its seekers and refusers alike? Who would care the most of what’s the society will become in the near future? Come to think of it, there are still valiant individuals that will do these heroic deeds unconditionally in spite of the hardships that is associated with learning. They are the teachers. The role model of a large fraction, if not the entirety of the student body. They are the footholds of our society. They strengthen every individual with learning and nurturing like what metal frames in sturdy infrastructures do. They stimulate the creativity, morality, discipline, practical to theoretical comprehension and other things a student needs to learn beyond his or her household.

Without the teachers, there won’t be actual professionals that make up the essential gears of our locomotive society. Other professionals practically won’t exist without the educators considering their significant contribution to the students’ career path towards a desired profession. Even though each educator has unique approaches towards learning, they share on a common goal while fulfilling their vocation - to teach the next generation and continue the cycle of learning. The teachers would not exalt themselves for doing this mentally and physically gruesome work, nor ask for vocal gratitude. Rather, they would be more than satisfied of their work to see their students to become successful in their own ways. They are the unsung heroes, servants of truth and guide of the young ones. As long as there are teachers who will wholeheartedly commit on educating knowledge-seekers throughout their descendants and their own descendants, our society will continue to strive. Even though it isn’t spoken and expressed outwardly, the deep gratitude of every student, parents and other stakeholders are given to our dear teachers. The teachers who are not the biological parents of the students serve actually parents of the youth. Indeed, the teachers’ tenacity which is their inborn instinct can always characterize them as the unsung heroes.
