Technology in the Teaching-Learning Process
Marife M. Sonza
Successful technology teaching can be described as enhanced teaching where technology promotes learner-centeredness and authentic learning. This can be achieved by giving real life roles and integrating technology. Another way of effective instruction can be achieved by using it as part of the lesson. Technology should not be treated as a tool but as way of learning such as learning pronunciation through videos, recording and online clips.
But there are some difficulty and anxiety of students and teachers in utilizing technology. Learners and some traditional teachers do not adjust right away in being familiar with manipulation of these advancements. They do not easily cope up with fear of engaging with modern type of instructional materials since they are less exposed on how to use them because of the limited facilities and resources that they have at home or in school. Consequently, additional time should be allotted solely for orientation of how to maximize available technology.
Furthermore, technology infused learning entails preparation and systematic planning. Students must be given appropriate orientation before engaging with these educational technologies. The millennial period offers a wide array of advancements teachers may administer in class to make lessons more creative. Teachers must keep abreast with the call of being a flexible and modern teacher. By this, use of effective technological materials and media has direct and positive impact on development of learners especially this NEW NORMAL where classroom instructions are all done online or modular.
