Last December 2019, an alarming news about the so called NCOV 19 ,better known as Novel Corona Virus jolted the world. It was originated in Wuhan, Huebei China and they believed that this was started by eating exotic animals particularly bats and snakes by the locale there, but it was still unknown where the disease came from. There were thousands of people who are infected and died of the infected disease, not only in China but in other parts of the world especially those who came from Wuhan China, the outbreak continue to progress that World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern(PHEIC). Health Authorities have been working to contain the spread of the disease since its discovery.
This corona virus was named COVID 19, giving specific identifier to a disease that has been confirmed in more than 42,000 people and caused more than 1,000 deaths in China and still counting as this progresses. In choosing the name WHO advisers focused simply on the type of virus that causes the disease . Co and Vi come from corona virus, and D meaning disease and 19 standing for 2019, the year the first cases were seen.
In order to control and contain the disease, people who are suspected of having the symptoms are quarantined for 14 days and if infected are being isolated, have a series of test to find out if they have the disease. Some symptoms are simple cough , sore throat, fever and respiratory symptoms.
In order for us to avoid the disease, people are advised to stay at home, ensure that they maintain standard precautionary measures like adequate hand and respiratory hygiene. Keep the environment clean at all times., Wear protective medical mask if any of the symptoms are prevalent, Cover the nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing.
