“Resiliency is the ability to overcome challenges of all kinds–trauma, tragedy, personal crises, plain ‘ole’ life problems–and bounce back stronger, wiser, and more personally powerful (Henderson, 2012)”

Filipinos are known to be resilient. We’ve been experiencing different kinds of calamities, catastrophes and other natural calamities but still we Filipinos are still standing despite of these events.

When this COVID-19 started, many of us suffered a lot. Many families starved due to unemployment and insufficient financial capability to sustain their family. Financial assistance and relief food from the government doesn’t suffice the needs of every family.

However, this COVID-19 pandemic makes every family stronger and better. Every family is helping each other how to cope up and bring food to every family’s table in order to surpass the everyday challenge brought up by this unexpected phenomenon.

Some of the common things that they’ve done in order to survive in these trying times are busy in doing urban planting that gives them source of food. Some are busy with their online business; some are engaged in delivery industry where motorcycles and even bicycles are the medium of transportation.

Furthermore, many are involved in plant industry where they sell different varieties of plants. These made them as source of income and at the same time it helps them reduce their feeling of anxiety.

In addition to, some of them focus on the food industry like baking and cooking and engaging themselves in the most sensational drink of the season it’s the milk tea industry. Their skills has been unleash in this unpredictable situation. This is somehow brought good thing on their personal skills although in a worse situation.

These are just the few things that shows resiliency among Filipinos. Above all, it also demonstrated their kindness and being helpful to others because it is in the Filipino blood to help others despite that they themselves are in need.

Filipinos were able to stand still no matter what. Family is there source of resiliency.
