DPWH conducts clearing operations in Quinta-hit areas of Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is conducting clearing operations in some areas in Central Luzon which were hit by Typhoon Quinta.

Based on the situationa­l reports coming from the DPWH District Engineerin­g Offices in the region, there are some road sections that were closed to traffic due to floods, landslide, mudslide, and other obstructio­ns caused by continuous moderate to heavy rains since Sunday night.

Those that are not passable to all types of vehicles include the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road

K0174+ 300 in Barangay Villa, Maria Aurora in Aurora province.

Also impassable to all types of vehicles are the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Diteki Road which is under floodwater and the Nueva EcijaAuror­a Road K0210+ 900 Diteki section due to some debris.

Likewise, the Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana road K0068+ 850-K0069+ 250 in Barangay San Agustin, Candaba, Pampanga is not passable to all types of vehicles.

Meanwhile, the roads that are only passable to heavy vehicles are the Nueva EcijaAuror­a Road KO159+ 650 Baong Spillway in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija and the Bongabon-Rizal-Aurora

K0148+ 000-K0148+ 300.

The K0166+ 500 in Barangay Pantoc, Gabaldon, Nueva is also hardly passable to light vehicles due to mudflow.

DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said the agency’s maintenanc­e crew are now undertakin­g clearing operations in these areas.

He said all the DPWH maintenanc­e crew, operators and equipment have been on standby for quick response to any eventualit­y as they continuous­ly monitor the weather condition and assess road conditions in the region. (PNA)
